Everything Can Change

I’m in the process of deciding if I want to GetOneWord for 2020. I have certainly heard a lot about the power this strategy can have to bring about life change, and as I’m starting this new year, new decade even, I want to make some changes- I want to steward well my time, abilities, and resources and live fully in the calling of God on my life.

If you’re reading this, I bet you have the same desire.

While I did not officially choose a word in 2019, as I looked back at a previous post, I was reminded of my state of mind this time last year-

It had been a year of more ordinary than extraordinary, more difficult than ease, more head down moving forward than I would have preferred. Realizing that much of the stuff of 2018 would continue walking with me into the new year ahead, a sense of dread and anger swept over me.

How would I begin 2019 with many things still unresolved?

I realized that God provided a focus for the year by encouraging me to adjust the way I viewed things. I was to develop a Hallelujah Perspective in 2019 in order to know the abundance of God. The word that came into focus was BOUNTY.

Using two PICs, I asked God to change my perspective to see his bounty in the coming year. I started by acknowledging that God is present; therefore, so is His abundance. I asked Him to help me see it –

I started praising Him even in the circumstances that challenged me to feel like I was living in the place of abundance. I asked God to teach me to die to circumstances and boast in Him alone.

As I look back at the notes I’ve written on my index cards (PICs), I clearly see that God is faithful to the promise of Psalm 22:3 (KJV)

But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

God lives, dwells, brings his presence to the places where we invite Him through praise, especially those places where praise doesn’t come easily. Where perhaps complaining, grumbling, fear, anger, and disappointment are more likely to rule the day.

In 2019, God’s presence brought abundant change to several circumstances and perspectives by-

  • Encouraging me to learn how to put words out there for others to read and create Daily PICs for Life
  • Providing miraculously for my daddy to move into a senior community (Taking the Land)
  • Growing me in Joy through Philippians and teaching me to rest in God’s provision through Psalm 23- so many truths mined from the Word this year!
  • Hearing God whisper to my heart this fall after some much prayed over family time- I am for you!

In big and small ways . . . through answers that have come and prayers that remain-

Even as another year begins with things that are unresolved . . .

God is reminding me that whether I choose a word or not –

It is God who is the changemaker!

Through His presence- by inviting His Word and His Spirit into my life and allowing them to lead and guide and work- change will come.

I have loved a song this Christmas by Phillips, Craig and Dean entitled Suddenly.

It reminds me to celebrate the One who changed everything. I hope you’ll take a moment to listen to the powerful words in the music video linked to the title. Through the gift of his Son Jesus, God showed his love for us, and that changed everything!

God is still in the business of change today, and as the song says,

Right where you are-

SUDDENLY-

Everything can change.

Will you join me in the anticipation of what God will do in us and through in this new year, new decade even?

By singing “Glory to God in the highest!”

In advance.

He will come to our places of praise-

And that my friend, changes everything!

Happy New Year-  may you enjoy every blessing in Christ as He dwells with you in 2020!

  1. Happy New Year my friend!!! What a beautiful way to go into the New Year and Decade… thank you for the challenge and the reminder of setting my priorities in the proper order. I never want to run before God and as we begin this very slow process of building a new home, I needed this reminder of setting my sights on what REALLY matters. Miss you~
