Today my devotional reading took me to Hebrews 11:8-12. I love the way Abraham is described in verse 12-
“Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.”
The part I highlighted- that Abraham was as good as dead made me smile because it reminded me that I cannot begin to fathom the ways and the timing of God.
Isaiah explains well how very different God is from man-
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts that your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8-9
The great I AM is God of what seems impossible to me, and just when I think no life or hope can come to a situation, it does.
More from Isaiah on this-
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:19
We all have things we are waiting to see or hear from God. Let’s take heart today with anticipation and excitement that God is working even when and especially when we are as good as dead. In our weakest and most tired places- God is making a way.

There is no one like our God; with Him all things are POSSIBLE!
